The Centre for International Comparative Education Studies (ZIB)

The Centre for International Comparative Education Studies (ZIB) e. V. is an institute affiliated with the Technical University and was founded in 2010 by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Federal States in the Federal Republic of Germany (KMK). The goal of ZIB is contribute to the assurance of quality in education through international educational research. For example, it conducts the PISA studies in Germany and maintains various research projects that focus on school practice.

ZIB builds on close cooperation between the three participating institutes at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), the DIPF | Leibniz Institute for Human Development and Educational Information, and the IPN - Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education. Additionally, the ZIB works closely with the Institute for Quality Development in Education (IQB) in Berlin, in particular with the Research Data Center (FDZ), which collects data from large educational studies and makes them available for further research. The Center for International Comparative Education Studies (ZIB) is a member of the Leibniz Research Network Educational Potentials (LERN).
