The one week study trip to Ekaterinburg is a joint initiative organised by TUM School of Education in association with the Ural Federal University of Ekaterinburg (UrFU). It is offered to TUM School of Education students each year and provides a short opportunity for them to acquire a degree of intercultural experience.
· Cross-cultural Communication (CROCO) on the border between Europe and Asia;
· Joint development and presentation of projects in the field of CROCO.
Cross-cultural and Educational Program:
Your visit to the European-Asian border includes a number or fascinating (field) trips, e.g. the Ganina mine, the Yeltsin center and other areas of interest in Ekaterinburg and its surroundings. A stimulating educational program comprises seminars on different cultural orientations in Russia and Germany, the Russian language for beginners and special features of German-Russian business communications, in addition to joint project work with Russian linguistic students on CROCO topics.
Students who would like to learn Russian and gain first-hand experience of the Russian way of life, including the opportunity to visit the impressive countryside and places of cultural and historical significance in the Middle Urals.
The course fee of EUR 250 covers costs relating to those items detailed below.
· Russian (language) lessons
· seminars and cross-cultural training
· cultural and leisure program (activities)
· transfer to and from airport
· lunch in the student canteen

Participants are usually accommodated in a university hotel near the UrFU. As noted above, accommodation is not included in the course fee and currently costs c. EUR 9 per night per person in a double room. The accommodation is equivalent to that of a (student) hostel.
The 2021 study trip to Ekaterinburg is currently in the planning stage, see below.
Both a valid passport and a visa are required for traveling to Ekaterinburg. In order to apply for the visa, you must have a written invitation from the UrFU. Before Prof. Dr. Larissa Korneeva at the UrFU can issue this invitation, she requires a copy of your passport.

Please take account of the fact that you may have to arrive the day before the program starts.
